That's a real beauty .

I see by the fin clip that it's a stocked fish.

Anyone have the fin clip legend that DEC put out?  I (we) would be interested in knowing how old it is.

RV so perhaps 2011 but I would wonder if from the previous cycle so maybe 2006.  Great to see healthy aged fish in the lake!!  Congratulations again.

That's a beauty.  Did it fight well including the Laker shake??

It's head shakes were massive,  very heavy and took a line a couple of times.

A 36” laker with a RV clip is 24 or 30 or 38 years old.  If it was older it would have a RV and AD clipped.

So I'm guessing 30 or 38.. leaning on the 38 they say an inch per year.  Thanks for the great insight!

Just as a reference point I was told that the 29 lb laker that won the Canandaigua derby a few years ago was evaluated by the DEC (scale sample was mentioned) and it was 24 years old. Nothing official though as it was another fisherman that told me that as it beat out my previous record fish.

I Highly doubt it is 24, 30 or 38 years old.  The 34.06 we took out of Lake Ontario in 2012 was 27 years old.  Like Les posted above, the 29 on Canadiagua was 24 years old.  Lakers this far south in their range age a lot faster than the Northern Canadian lakes.  Still an awesome fingerlakes  laker either way!
