Looks like it’s going to be a long wait until spring. Let’s hear some reports!

Here is my report from Braddocks today. Too windy and too cold for my liking.  So I drove down to see how many were out.

not a truck in the parking lot.

Snow on the ice such as it is makes for no bueno on my knees. Prior to the snow I fished Oneida with good success off Chapmans last Wednesday, and managed to reach the deeper water on the South end of Honeoye Saturday evening just before the storm. A chartreuse jigging rap got hit consistently with a bunch of big perch and three walleye coming to the hole. All released, and no, not into hot oil

I talked with a couple guys coming off the ice at north end of Canandaigua yesterday. They said 5-6 inches of ice out as far aas you can see. They were out in about 14 ft. One guy said he saw absolutely nothing in about 20 holes he drilled the other guy had three keepers on the small side. They said it has been very slow. About a half dozen tents out there. Today only three, tents but I didn't stop.

So I’m pretty new at the whole ice fishing thing. Went on Braddocks for a few hours this morning. Six inches of slush between the snow and the ice. What’s up with that? Probably explains why nobody was  out.

Tough out there. We found dry ice. Shoveled an area drilled a hole and it flooded to 2” deep. Don't drop anything.

Weight of the snow pushes the ice down. Insulates it to from refreezing too

Hey Steve I think you did better than most:smile:

Honeoye out of Sandy Bottom today.  Tough pull. Only made it out to 17'. 1 for 2 on Pickeral. That was all. And I was not targeting Pickeral so...a little disappointing. Back to the South end for me next time. Just try and get far enough north to separate from the masses a bit.

Heading to Braddocks in the morning. Really hoping the slush will have frozen by now lol ?

Anybody know or willing to share if the perch bite has picked up on Canandaigua yet?

Guys have been getting them on the North end from what I hear.  There today gone tomorrow.  Lots of searching but when you find them its decent.

Thank you! I will probably give it a shot this weekend. Will report back if I do.

Tried the south end from sunrise to about 11 with no marks or bites. Tried for lake trout a little with no luck. Moved to the north end and got a few perch and pickerel. It was slow but when the fish came through they didn't hesitate to bite, wish I had started there in the morning.

Fish Canandiagua South end yesterday with the boys and brought home 59 keeper perch.  Small pods of fish kept us hole hopping.  A small buckshot in clown was best for me tipped with a perch eye.  52-59' of water was best.
